About me

Val Neumaier alias the Pixel Witch spent her formative years in the rural landscape of lower Bavaria.

With little to do other than to avoid superstition for being ginger and raising cats - and abuse her village's first internet flatrate - she first developed a love for gaming, then animation, and then discovered Adobe Photoshop, Version 6.

The year was 1998.

20+ years later, I hold degrees in Animation & Game Production, Multimedia and Creative Leadership, as well as a complete vocational training as a film producer for image films, explainer animations and social media clips.

I write concepts, develop styles and create animations - to tell stories, entertain and to make complex topics approachable with a unique  enough approach to stay eye-catching in today's flood of video content.

My private projects, such as LIGHTBRINGERS and Carmilla, have all been influenced by studios and artists I look up to. Amongst them are the Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon, animation pioneer Lotte Reiniger and the stop motion film geniuses of Henry Selick and Tim Burton.

In my spare time, I work on indie game projects, run a small Youtube channel and make electronic music on Bandcamp under my artist name Nyctalaea.
